Human HaCaT Keratinocyte Cells
Human HaCaT Keratinocyte Cells are an immortalized [i], adherent cell line derived from spontaneously transformed keratinocytes from the histologically normal skin of a 62-year-old Caucasian male donor. These epithelial cells exhibit stable differentiation capacity, making them a widely used model for studying skin biology, wound healing, carcinogenesis, and dermatological research.
HaCaT cells offer rapid proliferation rates and robust growth characteristics in standard cell culture conditions. Their consistent morphology and reliable expansion make them ideal for applications in iPSC reprogramming workflows, cell therapy development, viral infection studies, oncogenesis research, and skin grafting investigations. Researchers utilize HaCaT cells to explore keratinocyte behavior, epithelial function, and the mechanisms underlying various dermatological conditions. HaCat cells are robust a model for studying skin ciliopathies.
Engineered for reproducibility and efficiency, these cells provide a highly relevant, standardized platform for investigating epidermal regeneration, drug testing, and tissue engineering. Their ability to form structured epithelial layers under appropriate conditions enhances their utility in advanced skin research and therapeutic development. We recommend culturing and maintaining these cells with CET’s proprietary Human HaCaT Keratinocyte Growth Media (CET-MR1013) for best results. When using this media, keratiniyctes cells have been observed to retain cuboidal morphology and a 48-hour doubling time.
