Because all accessories are sold separately, you are able to customize your unit to best fit your lab's workflow. Additionally, if you decide that you would like to process samples of a different size, it is as easy as simply ordering alternate accessories.
Base Unit
Which base unit should you get? This will depend on how many samples you want to run at the same time. Choose between 3 base unit types of varying capacities (Types 6, 12, or 24) depending on your sample volume and number of samples that you want to process simultaneously.
Gear Plates and Silver Tube Attachments
Which blue gear plates should you get? Do you need silver tube attachments? This will depend on what size tubes you are processing and whether you are using a Type 6 or a Type 12/24. You need silver tube attachments if you are using 0.5mL or 1.5mL tubes. Type 6 and Type 12/24 use different gear plates and silver tube attachments due to the diameter of the disruption unit. Type 12 and Type 24 take the same size blue gear plates and silver tube attachments, but you will need two of each accessory for Type 24.
Resonance Rods and O-Rings
Do you need resonance rods? Should you buy extra O-Rings? Resonance rods are necessary if you are using 10, 15, or 50mL tubes. Resonance rods are specific to the brand of tube that you are using. If you are using 0.5mL and 1.5mL microtubes, you do not need resonance rods. Each resonance rod comes with one O-Ring--there is no set time when you need to replace your O-Ring, but if it becomes damaged, it is necessary to replace it.
Tubes
Where can you find the tubes that you need? Cosmo Bio USA sells 1.5mL and 10mL tubes. Other size tubes must be purchased from the manufacturer or their distributor. If you need help determining whether the tubes you have are appropriate, please let us know.
Cold Water Circulator
Do you need to buy the cold water circulator? To maintain an even temperature and proper sound wave dispersion, you will need to have constantly circulating cold water in your disruption unit. We sell a unit that is easily attached and fully compatible with the CosmoSonic II.
