DH5α is the most popular E. coli strain for everyday cloning applications. It supports blue/white screening for easy selection of recombinant DNA with X-Gal. In addition, DH5α carries recA1 mutation that eliminates homologous recombination ensuring insert stability. It also carries endA1 mutations that greatly improve the quality of plasmid DNA and yield prepared from mini-prep. It is useful for the transformation of large plasmids and two-hybrid systems (up to 40 kb).
Features
Suitable for cloning with large plasmid and cDNA library construction, and also allows for blue-white colony screening.
