Humanin (HN) is a new cell death inhibitory factor that inhibits neuronal cell death in Alzheimer's disease (AD). HN demonstrates the inhibition of cell death by cell death invasive factors (familiar AD causative gene, Amyroid ?, etc.) about AD, but is ineffective to cell death by other neurodegenerative causative gene mutations and anticancer drugs. In addition to the high specificity of HN about cell death inhibitory action to AD, it is paid attention as a promising candidate of curative treatment drug to AD because it is a short peptide (24 amino acid residues). This antibody has low reaction to natural HN, but specifically detects an active enhancing HN, S14G-HN that its Ser 14 is substituted by Gly with Western blotting. It is expected that it plays an important role to elucidate the pathological mechanism of AD and establish the treatment as well as research of HN.
