Ghrelin is a peptide identified from rat stomach as an intrinsic ligand of growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R) in 1999. Although secretion of growth hormone is thought to be controlled by growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) in the hypothalamus, it was elucidated that this Ghrelin also stimulates the secretion of growth hormone. In addition, Ghrelin has strong food intake stimulation action and is related to stimulation of gastric acid secretion. This antibody was produced using a partial peptide of rat Ghrelin as an antigen. It can be used for immunostaining and is useful to elucidate the broad physiological actions of Ghrelin.
