In vitro evaluation system for cancer stem cell (CSC) therapeutic drugs based on sphere-forming ability

The Sphere Formation Assay is a representative in vitro system for evaluating the effect of drugs on cancer stem cells (CSCs). This is a method for quantifying the number of CSCs by the number of colonies (called spheres) formed in a culture system, utilizing the tumor-forming ability that is a characteristic of CSCs. This makes it possible to quantify the effect of a drug on CSCs by the reduction in the number of spheres when the drug is applied.

In vivo evaluation system for cancer stem cell (CSC) therapeutic drugs based on metastasis formation ability

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have the ability to form metastatic lesions in distant organs.

When a highly enriched group of cancer stem cells (CSCs) enriched using this antibody is injected into the tail vein, a significantly large number of lung metastatic lesions are formed, making it possible to confirm the effectiveness of drug administration.
